This month, the Little School will be participating in Read Across America. The purpose of celebrating Read Across America is to bring people together to promote reading!
We kicked off Read Across America Month on Friday, March 2, with school-wide maker-space challenges that are related to a variety of Dr. Seuss and PD Eastman books! Community members, and specialists have also been invited and assigned a classroom to work on various activities related to the book assigned at each grade level.
Monday, March 5, was National Read Aloud Day. Our classes enjoyed skyping with Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver, authors of the Hank Zipper series during Digital Literacy! The themes of their books are learning about differences and overcoming challenges. Our classes all will listen to read alouds along with the rest of our nations' classrooms! Another classroom is planning to Skype with Malcom Mitchell who wrote the book, The Magic Hat! So exciting! Then, we will celebrate Spirit Week during the week of March 12-16, with prizes awarded for classroom participation. Bookmarks were sent home with each theme of the day. March is going to be a really fun month
