Our 1st graders got to tour the North Reading community! They all got a library card, found out the fun things the library card does. Did somebody say discounted museum tickets? Then they got to pick out a book to check out! We then took a chilly stroll to the police and fire department where they got a special tour of both departments. They got to see the dispatch room and the lock up at the police station. The fire department made sure they all knew what a fire escape plan was. They got to see and find out what the different trucks were for. They saw a fully suited deputy chief and were explained that they should never be afraid if they were ever in a situation where they see them suited up and to always go toward them, because they are there to help! Finally they got to see how the fire pole works! What a fun and informative way to explore our community!
