Pre-K Enrichment with Curious Creatures

The Pre-K classes had some special visitors from Curious Creatures, an interactive education live animal program.

Luke Skywalker, a large guinea pig, was quite adorable and a big hit with the kids who enjoyed petting him. Wally was a chinchilla who demonstrated how he takes a bath in volcanic ash and plays his favorite game of peek-a-boo with students. Angel, a five year old albino, red eyed, himalayan rabbit, enjoyed hopping around the rug and trying to make it extra comfy. The children were in awe of Gus, a 85 year old red-footed large tortoise. They loved learning how to count the lines on its scoots (bumps on his shell) to tell its age. Charlotte the tarantula showed her web action and loved climbing on her handler's face. The kids were in awe as he walked around the room with his "friend" attached to him. Baloo is the bearded dragon who doesn’t drink water through his mouth but absorbs it in his skin and head.  Casper, the corn snake who is 100% muscle, and Monty the large boa constrictor were a huge hit with the children. They loved petting them and couldn't believe how smooth they felt.  We learned the Boa could eat a deer or bear for dinner! Finally, Chompy is the baby alligator who will someday be living the dream in Florida.
