On Wednesday, January 10th, nine fourth and fifth graders competed in the National Geographic Geography Bee. Those top finalists were: Maeve Easler, Zachary Emery, Brynn Flaherty, Nico Johnson, Adhvay Karthikeyan, Isabelle Lazure, Cooper May, Kieran Miller and Sucheta Srikanth. Hazel Pearsall was also a finalist, but was unable to compete on Wednesday.
Finalists were chosen based on the results of a written test taken earlier in the school year; the top five scorers in each grade were chosen to compete in Wednesday's Bee. First place honors were earned by Brynn Flaherty, followed by Adhvay Karthikeyan in second place and Isabelle Lazure in third place. Brynn is now eligible for the next round of competition, leading to the National Geography Bee in Washington, D.C.
Congratulations to all the students who competed - it is quite an accomplishment!!
