In October, the third grade went on a field trip to the Gloucester Maritime Museum. While there, they had many opportunities to learn about life by the sea.
The museum had activities they developed where kids learn about the most abundant life in ocean as they view plankton under the microscope. They also gave the students the opportunity to learn what it takes to keep the critters alive in the tanks - see what it takes to be an aquarist, with water quality testing.
Students also learned about invasive species and their effect on the local environment. All of these were engaging hands on activities that lined up with the state frameworks and standards.
