On Friday, January 10, five fourth and five fifth graders competed in the National Geographic Geography Bee. Those top finalists were: Elise Cabrera, Chloe DeAngelis, Cole Donahue, Caitlin Emery, Matthew Lazure, Connor Abruzzese, Riley Maibor, John Pastore, Finn Joyce, and Logan Soroko.
Finalists were chosen based on the results of a written test taken earlier in the school year; the top five scorers in each grade were chosen to compete in Friday's Bee. The students were asked a series of challenging geography questions in two rounds. The questions covered both U.S and world geography. First place honors were earned by John Pastore, followed by Matthew Lazure in second place and Connor Abruzzese in third place. John is now eligible for the next round of competition, leading to the National Geography Bee in Washington, D.C. Congratulations to all the students who competed - it is quite an accomplishment!
